The Mercedes-Benz International School opened in 1898 as an English-medium
school to educate the children of employees of locally based international
companies, as well as some local Indian children. The school is
open for 180 days a year starting in early August and finishing
in mid-June.
The Mercedes-Benz International School is an authorised and evaluated
IB school and students participate in the Primary Years Programme
(PYP) or the Middle Years Programme (MYP). The students follow a
broad and balanced curriculum including frequent exposure to and
involvement in Indian cultural activities.
German and French are offered as second languages. ESL tuition
is provided as required. Small classes (maximum 16) mean that the
school can address pupils individual needs. Kindergarten and
nursery classes are also provided. A special academic relationship
exists with the nearby Mahindra United World College, and many of
the older students go on to study years 11 and 12 there.
The highly dedicated teaching staff has been specially recruited
and trained from a range of nationalities and all are highly qualified
for the areas in which they teach. The Mercedes-Benz International
School encourages a wide range of staff development to ensure teachers
stay well informed and in touch with developments in their fields.
Several members of staff contribute their skills to training other
teachers within the Asia Pacific region.
The Mercedes-Benz International School is set in a beautifully
appointed campus, forty minutes from the city centre, and as well
as 14 classrooms, it has laboratories, a two storey library and
media centre, music rooms, cafeteria, sports grounds and a swimming
pool. It is planned too build a boarding school and sports hall
in the next phase. For the time being boarders are accommodated
in a hostel near to the site.
The Mercedes-Benz International School is supported by several
multinational sponsoring organizations.
