Primus Public School

INTRODUCTION
Primus Public School aims at taking on a surprising number of forms. From a bubbly, enthusiastic, inquisitive and eager to learn student population to a vibrant intellectual community of teachers whose commitment flows from a profound faith in the power of education to transform lives. A curriculum that is a broad and multi-textured tapestry of ideas, books, culture, tradition and relationships, explored with an inspired energy and purposeful engagement. Yes, Primus is a school that is a living, breathing fabric woven between the past and future. A confluence of enduring wisdom, emerging knowledge and innovation.

Primus Public School acquires its strong identity from three distinct elements:

A vibrant intellectual community of teachers and students who share a profound belief in the power of education;
A convenient setting near Koramangala, Bangalore on the Sarjapur Road within city limits, easy access from the city;
A management committed to providing the best possible education empowered with fulfilling a vision through reflection, collaboration and decisive action.
The lively interplay of these elements gives Primus its synergy and focus and draws together a remarkable community of educators, children and citizens.

CURRICULUM
The Philosophy
It is a highly competitive world that we are living in today. The young minds need to be disciplined and trained to cope with academic rigour and develop the stamina to face competition. Fearless thinkers and first movers are likely to have an edge over the others and to facilitate this, Primus has wisely chosen to pursue the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) syllabus and International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) known for its depth and spectrum of knowledge.

A syllabus that is contemporary, continuously evolving and one that prepares the student to enter the finest portals of collegiate education in India as well as overseas. The curriculum developed by the school interests, engages and inspires students. It stimulates curiosity among children and invites active exploration.

The curriculum awakens creative response and builds in young people a tremendous sense of accomplishment. Truly, one that lives up to the Primus motto  Aude Sapere    Dare to know.

Beyond the oft touted goal of  excellence  in education, Primus strives for meaning, quality and contemporary relevance.  While not overlooking preparation for a distant future the School strives for discernable worth in the work which students and faculty engage each day. It is our earnest belief that these are true criteria to measure excellence.

The learning sessions will involve team-based and individual projects. Classes will involve audio-visual presentations, group discussions, debates and result in construction of knowledge. Students will be encouraged to take up knowledge search, information analysis and presentations. Learning derived from this environment will translate into a repository of knowledge and skills for decision support in the future.

STAFF
An exceptional team of teachers and members of staff. Accomplished scholars in their field with an unwavering commitment to their students.

Faculty and members of staff undergo a thorough training program in the latest teaching techniques and the use of graphics, video and presentation software. This ensures the imbibing of ideas in a lively and interactive classroom atmosphere or in an engaging laboratory experience.

Training also stresses on the emotional and spiritual development, so essential in winning the hearts and minds of young people.

It is often rightly said that teachers, verily, are the curriculum

FACILITIES

Infrastructure

Sports
Primus will have a six-lane, 25 metre covered swimming pool. Basketball courts and Cricket nets will be available. The sports infrastructure will support five a side Football and Hockey fields. Primus will have a full-fledged indoor sports complex from the third year of operations for Badminton and Table Tennis.

Library
The school will have a well-stocked library but the library will not be reduced to a godown of books as it often does. Many activities will be organized at the library to cultivate an avid interest in books among young minds.

Laboratories
Pursuit of science is enriching and fulfilling only if it is hands on. The younger students need space for high energy questioning, discussions and experimentation under strict supervision. The older students need a quiet environment for precision perfect experiments, which require concentration and practice. It is difficult to provide both environments in the same space!

Therefore, the School will have separate science laboratories for students upto grade 8 and for students above grade 8. Thus conflicting requirements of both the juniors and seniors are met. Both the juniors and seniors will have Science and Computer labs.

Transport
Buses will be provided for all students and Staff. School buses will run on pre-designated routes. The bus staff will be well trained to manage students, discipline on the bus, emergencies and first aid. They will be provided with mobile phones to assist parents and also help the school ascertain location of bus.

Medical Attention
The school will have a well-equipped First aid center and trained medical staff to cater to emergencies. Tie-ups with well known hospitals in the vicinity will be made. Each Student s medical record will be maintained up-to-date for ready reference in case of emergencies.

Tuck Shop
The School will have a  Tuck Shop , with packaged short eats reviewed and approved by the School for hygiene and health standards. This is not intended to replace a well balanced home cooked meal or lunch but will provide light  tuck-ins  should the need arise. The tuck shop will also sell books and stationery.
