Gaia Pre-School and Daycare Centre

Gaia is a Preschool and Childcare Centre open from 8.30 to 5.50 pm. Gaia follows the philosophy and principles of Reggio Emelia, Montessori, and Khel-Katha - an ancient Indian technique of learning through storytelling and games.

Gaia believes that young children learn effortlessly when presented with the right information at the right time.  Based on research of over 4 years and 20 years of experience by international educationist Nina Kanjirath, Gaia provides children with a strong academic base in literacy and numeracy. Gaia combines imported programmes to foster well-developed skills in reading and writing and incorporates a solid foundation in language, science, math and music.

From the age of two, children are introduced to a Gaia s Enriched Curriculum that includes Judo, Carpentry, Carnatic Music, Discovery Garden, Gym, Yoga, Dance and many more.

Facilitating all this and more is a dedicated team of dedicated and experienced teachers.

Reggio today, is widely regarded as one of the finest systems in the world. At Gaia, the outside and inside  combine seamlessly  in true Reggio All activities at Gaia are carefully planned and designed to learn, teach, provoke thinking, conversation, reflection and wonder.

Set mostly at ground level, classrooms are interconnected and the school has an open-air courtyard that allows for encounters and exchanges between children of different ages. The school favours a research and documentation approach for both children and facilitators and involves parents as partners. Co-operation is the foundation of this educational system.

Gaia has revived the ancient and vibrant Indian legacy of storytelling and games. Using a 21st Century approach, stories from the Panchatantra and around the world are adapted from the verbal to role-play, dance, art projects and multimedia lessons. Gaia carefully chooses or creates stories for their appeal to young children and converts them into leaning units that incorporate math, science social studies and language arts.

The Gaia curriculum allows children to explore a wide variety of indoor and outdoor games that encourages healthy competition, an understanding of strengths and potential and helps develop gross motor skills involving coordination, agility, balance and speed.

Gaia Preschool is a place where children constantly express their reluctance to go home, their yearning to come in, simply because   there are over a hundred things to do.
